During my Vineyard Vision Fellowship, I interned at CONNECT to end violence, a program under Martha’s Vineyard Community Services. My time there allowed me to grow as a professional and to refine my interests specifically to mental health in children and adolescents, an area for which there is significant, and arguably increasing, demand on Martha’s Vineyard. Thanks to the financial and logistical support I received from the Vision Fellowship, I attended Tufts University and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Child Development and Spanish, with a minor in Political Science. I am now still at Tufts, working on a Master’s degree in Applied Child Development, with a concentration in Clinical Developmental Psychology. I plan on applying to doctoral programs in Clinical Psychology in 2016, and ultimately hope to devote the skills I acquire in academia to optimizing mental health in children and adolescents who are victims and/or witnesses of trauma.
