Museums are a necessary community resource, and the Martha’s Vineyard Museum strives to fulfill this role. An understanding of the Vineyard’s history and cultural heritage is a critical element in ensuring our community is healthy, vibrant and sustainable.

I’ve been working at the Martha’s Vineyard Museum for the last four years and my job is to help tell the Vineyard’s stories through research, education and exhibits. As a curator, I need to guarantee proper stewardship and care of our incredible collection. The Vision Fellowship will allow me to pursue further training while still working at the Museum. I will be enrolling in the Northern States Conservation Center’s online certificate program in collections management and care. The courses I am planning on taking relate to the many issues we face on a day to day basis, from overall environmental control and pest management to the care of specific objects within the collections. It is crucial that the Museum’s artifacts are properly protected so that future generations have the same opportunities to learn from them as we do.
