Joao Goncalves

Joao (John) Goncalves, a 2018 Vision Fellow, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in fire science from Anna Maria College. John will soon complete a two-year paramedic program to become a nationally certified paramedic. He was hired as a fulltime firefighter in the town of Chatham on Cape Cod before graduating from college. He continues to serve the town of Edgartown as a part-time firefighter, having joined the department at the age of 16 as a junior firefighter. Most recently, John has been involved in training new firefighter recruits at the Edgartown Fire department. John’s plan for the future is to return to school to obtain a masters in public administration.
