Joshua Gothard
Joshua Gothard, a 2017 Vision Fellow, graduated from Parsons School of Design with a Master’s of Architecture in May 2018. His thesis research focused on developing an architectural language to increase the coastal resiliency and sustainability of the Cape and Islands. Joshua completed the Massachusetts’ Architectural Registration Exams in 2021, and is now a registered Architect in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He has opened his own practice in West Tisbury, the focus of which is primarily on historic restoration and adaptive re-use of existing structures. Each project aims to reduce the amount of demolition and new construction by reusing and repurposing existing structures to meet client needs. This method allows for the historic character of a project to be preserved while increasing the efficiency both from a use and energy standpoint. Joshua also has his Captain’s License from the U.S. Coast Guard and has ferried yachts between New England and the West Indies. Joshua graduated from the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School in 2006 and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Architecture from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2010.
