Connor Downing

Connor Downing, a 2016 Vision Fellow and Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School graduate, obtained a B.S. in Earth and Environmental Science at Lehigh University in 2020. In fall 2019, Connor spent a semester conducting research to help trace ocean circulation patterns at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. In May 2022, Connor obtained his M.S. in Earth and Environmental Science from Lehigh. His master’s thesis, titled: A Time Series of Hydrothermal Vent Fluid Geochemistry Preceding the Next Eruption at 9°50’N, was published in a scientific journal in fall 2022. From 2016 to 2022, Connor interned seasonally under the mentorship of Douglas Cooper, principal earth scientist at Cooper Environmental, inspecting Island septic systems. In 2022, Connor served as Health Agent for the Town of Edgartown. He now works for Schofield, Barbini & Hoehn, a land surveying and civil engineering business based in Vineyard Haven, MA.
