Karen Dowd
Karen Dowd, a 2020 Vision Fellow, earned a Master of Social Work degree with a concentration in elder studies and trauma practice from Simmons University’s online program in 2023. Since July 2021, Karen has worked at Martha’s Vineyard Hospital where she is a Community Health Specialist & Social Work intern and part of the Intensive Care Management Program (ICMP). Karen’s focus is on assisting high-risk patients, primarily those over 65. This has provided opportunities for her to work closely with the Island Councils on Aging (COAs) and Island Elderly Housing to support Island seniors and develop programs that help them and their families. She has also been providing one-on-one counseling and developing her clinical skills. Karen previously served as the Regional Case Manager with Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands.
