Ryan Kent
Ryan Kent, a 2018 Vision Fellow, earned his Master’s Endorsement in Adapted Physical Education from Wright State University. Ryan is currently employed at the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School as a Physical Education and Adapted Physical Education teacher. In that role, Ryan has expanded the assessment and evaluation process for children in APE. Using this information, he has designed specific learning goals and objectives to direct the curriculum and lesson planning. He also has been building a “starter kit” of APE equipment with the hopes of providing one to each school on the Island while working towards becoming brand ambassador to get more equipment and materials. The highlight of Ryan’s work in this program was bringing Unified Athletics (through Special Olympics) to the high school in 2019. Unified Athletics pairs students with disabilities and students without disabilities through athletic programs such as basketball and outdoor track and further creating a more inclusive environment for all students.
